No need to worry about treatment costs? Meet MediAsas, New Plan With Premium Starting at RM60

To help the people get more affordable health coverage, the government introduced MediHandleswhich is a new medical insurance and takaful plan that will be implemented in stages before the national launch in 2027.

MediAsas is a plan separate medical insurance and takaful (standalone) which is specifically designed to provide basic health protection to the people at a more affordable premium rate.
This plan is approved as the official brand of Basic Medical and Health Insurance/Takaful Plan (MHIT) under the government’s efforts to reform the private health care financing system.
Its main goal is to ensure that more citizens have access to medical coverage without being burdened with exorbitant premium costs.


JBMKKS MEDIA RELEASE DRIVES RESET STRATEGY THROUGH MEDIASAS PILOT PROGRAM, PRICE TRANSPARENCY AND DIGITAL HEALTH INITIATIVE
MediaAsas will be offered through two product options:
- MediaAsas Terrace – Standard Plan
- MediaAsas Flexi – Standard-Plus Plan
Both these plans offer coverage up to age 85 years oldwhile participation is open to individuals up to age 70 years old.


Premium Starts as Low as RM60 Per Month
Among the main attractions of MediAsas is the more affordable premium rates.
The monthly premium budget is approximately:
- As low as RM60
- So that RM550 a month
The actual amount of the premium will be determined based on claims experience as well as health care cost inflation trends before the official launch in 2027.
Among the benefits offered through MediAsas are:
- Insurance and takaful protection that is more accessible to the people
- Lifetime protection 85 years old
- Premium is designed to remain affordable in the long term
- Two plan options according to user needs
- Entry is open until age 70 years old
Pilot Program Starts July 2026
Before being expanded to the whole country, MediAsas will undergo pilot program in the Klang Valley started end of July to October 2026.
This program aims to test:
- Comprehensive implementation before being introduced at the national level
- System integration
- Customer experience
- Operation process
- The readiness of hospitals and insurance companies
Six Insurance and Takaful Companies Involved
The MediAsas pilot program involves six main companies namely:
- AIA Bhd
- Allianz Life Insurance Malaysia Bhd
- Great Eastern Life Assurance (Malaysia) Bhd
- Prudential BSN Takaful Bhd
- Etiqa Family Takaful Bhd
- Family Takaful Malaysia Bhd
In addition, some selected private hospitals also participated in this initial implementation.
Independent Governing Board Protects Consumer Rights
To ensure the implementation of MediAsas is always transparent and prioritizes the interests of consumers, the government will establish Independent Governance Board (IGB).
This board will monitor the implementation of MediAsas continuously after it is fully implemented throughout the country.
Health Reform Under the RESET Framework
The implementation of MediAsas is also supported by several important initiatives under the framework RESET which is led by the Ministerial Joint Committee for Private Health Care Costs (JBMKKS).
Among the initiatives are:
- Improve the transparency of hospital bills through collaboration between private hospitals, insurance companies, takaful operators and regulatory authorities.
- Speeds up use Electronic Medical Record (EMR) through the concept-based Malaysian Digital Health Certification Network (MDHCN). “One Individual, One Record”.
- Modernizing the licensing and registration process of private health facilities under Act 586.


Support More Sustainable Health Financing
According to Finance Minister II, Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan, MediAsas will be an important basis for the reform of national health financing by offering more affordable protection without neglecting the sustainability of the health system.
Meanwhile, Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said MediAsas is a significant step to ensure the people have access to quality healthcare at a more affordable cost.
He also explained that this effort is supported by the implementation of the system Diagnosis Related Group (DRG) gradually in private hospitals to help control the increase in treatment costs.
The implementation of MediBasas is scheduled according to the following phases:
- End of July 2026 – A pilot program started in the Klang Valley.
- October 2026 – End of pilot program and implementation evaluation.
- January 2027 – Implementation of MediaAsas throughout the country.
MediAsas is a stand-alone medical insurance and takaful plan introduced by the government to provide more affordable health coverage to Malaysians.
MediaAsas offers two plan options:
MediaAsas Terrace (Standard Plan)
MediaAsas Flexi (Standard-Plus Plan)
Estimated monthly premium is around RM60 to RM550, depending on claim experience and health care cost trends. Final pricing will be announced before the national launch.
MediAsas is open to individuals who join up to the age of 70, with coverage up to the age of 85.
The pilot program will be implemented in the Klang Valley involving several selected private hospitals along with six insurance companies and takaful operators.
The pilot program aims to test operational readiness, system integration, customer experience and the implementation process before MediAsas is introduced nationwide.
The implementation of MediAsas is supported by several initiatives under the RESET framework, including:
Digitization of Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
Modernization of licensing of private health facilities
Increased transparency of medical bills
The establishment of an Independent Governance Board (IGB) to protect the interests of consumers.

PakarPBN
A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.
In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.
The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
