Fadhilat Fasting Tasu’a

The Prophet ﷺ also guided his companions to fast the day before the day or the day after. This is to distinguish from the practices practiced by the Jews. The Word of the Prophet ﷺ:

Fast on the day of Ashura, and they violated the Jews in it, they were fasting before it one day, or after it on the day
“Be happy on the day of the Assyrian and do the difference with the Jews. Satisfy the day before or the day after.” (HR Ahmad)

In another hadith, the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) seems to be more likely to fast the day before the Assyrian day. Today is called Tasu’a day. The Word of the Prophet ﷺ:

The Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said: So if the future year is if God wills, we prayed the ninth day. He said: The acceptable year did not come until the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, died
“The Messenger of Allah: If the next year of God I will fast on the ninth day of Muharram. Then it will not come next year unless the Prophet ﷺ has died.” (HR Muslim)
