The Malaysian FA Cup was first introduced in 1990 as the main qualifying tournament for local football teams to win the national trophy.

This tournament is held annually by the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) and is one of the most popular tournaments in Malaysia after the Malaysia Cup.​​

Historically, teams such as Selangor FC and Kedah Darul Aman FC have been among the most frequent winners of the FA Cup, winning five titles each.

Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) also stands out in the recent era with four wins, while other teams such as Sri Pahang FC, Kuala Lumpur City FC, Perak FC, Kelantan FC, Terengganu FC, and Negeri Sembilan FC have lifted this trophy between two and three times. B

Match Format

The 2025 FA Cup competition format follows a knockout system with 16 teams competing, consisting of 13 teams from the Super League and 3 teams from the A1 Semi-Pro League.

Matches starting from the round of 16, quarter-finals, and semi-finals are played in a two-legged (reciprocal) format, i.e. home and away matches.

If the aggregate position is tied, the match will be extended to extra time and if it is still tied, the winner will be determined through penalty kicks.​​

The final was played as a single game at Bukit Jalil National Stadium.

Teams are divided into “seeded” and “unseeded” teams for the round of 16 draw, with the seeded team being the home team in that round.

This format ensures fair and interesting competition throughout the tournament.​​

2025 FA Cup Final Match Tickets

The Malaysian Football League (MFL) announced the official ticket prices for the 2025-2026 FA Cup final which will take place at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium (SNBJ) on 14 December 2025 (Sunday), 9.00pm will be maintained as the previous season.

Tickets for the 2025 FA Cup final are sold with offers as low as RM50 and RM70 for the General Admission category, while the Premium category is priced at RM150 and the VIP Grandstand at a price of RM200.

Meanwhile, there are no special tickets or special prices available for children where only those aged 4 and above are required to have tickets like other spectators.

On the other hand, disabled card holders (OKU) do not need a ticket, but guardians are required to have a valid ticket and must be in the designated special seating zone.

Ticket sales will be completely handed over to the club to ensure direct ticket sales to supporters in a systematic and equal manner.

All information regarding the process of selling tickets to supporters will be communicated by JDT and Selangor FC in the near future.
