UPKK 2026 – Latest Exam Schedule, Date & Format

The Islamic Development Department of Malaysia (JAKIM) would like to inform that the implementation of the Al-Quran and Fardu Ain Class Assessment Test (UPKK) and Ithbat KAFA Pratahfiz (IKP) Year 2026 will be implemented according to the schedule that has been set throughout the country.
This implementation involves components of continuous assessment, written examination and hifz al-Quran assessment which will be implemented simultaneously according to the date set by JAKIM.

What is UPKK?
The KAFA Class Assessment Test or UPKK for short is held to assess the level of skills, abilities and appreciation of year 5 students in the areas of Al-Quran study, Ulum Syariah (Aqidah and Worship), Sirah, Adab (Islamic Ethics), Jawi and Khat and the Basics of Lughatul Quran.
There are 9 Subjects of the KAFA Class Assessment Test (UPKK) from 2024 ie
- Practice Prayer
- Islamic Way of Life Appreciation (PCHI)
- Recitation of the Quran
- Jawi and Khat lessons
- Sirah
- Worship
- Creed
- Adab (Islamic Morals)
- Read the Quran
New UPKK Assessment Format
5 UPKK Format Changes namely:
- The subject of Al-Quran Recitation from two papers to one paper.
- Ulum Syariah is divided into two subjects namely “UPKK 02 Faith” and “UPKK 07 Ibadah”. This split caused UPKK to become 9A.
- For the subject Adab, there was previously paper 1 and paper 2. The new format of Adab is only 1 paper.
- The time period for the written test for all papers is set for 1 hour 15 minutes only compared to before there were papers of 1 hour 30 minutes and there were also 2 hours.
- Each subject will have questions related to the basics. These basic points will be asked in part A of each subject.

Advantages of Taking the UPKK Exam
UPKK is still relevant and proven through the increase of candidates every year who show awareness to make KAFA a strengthening of Islamic knowledge.
The exam is even used as a support for admission to the 60 religious national high schools under the Ministry of Education that are the choice of parents at this time.
Not to be left out, UPKK’s results can be used as an advantage for admission to 12 integrated boarding schools and three federal religious secondary schools.

The Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) has determined that the Examination Time Table (JWP) will start according to the following regulations:
- Islamic Way of Life Appreciation (PCHI): June 29 to September 28, 2026
- Practice Prayer:June 29 to September 28, 2026
- Assessment of the Quran:September 28 to October 16, 2026
- KAFA Pratahfiz (IKP) Ithbat Examination:3 to 6 August 2026
