What is UKPC?

UKPC or Smart Smart Admission Test is a special screening test introduced by the Ministry of Education Malaysia (KPM) to select Year 5 students with high intelligence (smart smart) potential to pursue their studies at prestigious schools, Academy of Sciences (ASP).

Through this test, smart schools such as the Pendang Academy of Sciences can select students who are eligible to participate in very challenging and exclusive science and technology education programs.

The UKPC emphasizes aspects of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics), while ensuring successful students have a strong foundation to master this field in the future.

The process of detection of smart students (PC) will begin as early as 10 years old when they are in the 4th year of primary school (SR) through the IAAT4 test to detect the potential of students as they are being used throughout Malaysia.

Based on the findings of the test, students with good scores will be identified and invited to occupy (UKPC) at the age of 11 (Year 5).

  • The main purpose: assessing the level of cognitive, thinking, reasoning and student creativity.
  • Target Group: Year 5 students are automatically listed by KPM.
  • Selection Methods: Pupils do not need to apply but are selected based on existing data (academic performance, assessment etc.).
  • Test format: contains about 100 questions with a period of 85 minutes (according to latest information).
  • Test results: It is used as a basis for assessing student admission qualifications to the Pendang Academy of Sciences, a full boarding school that focuses on the development of smart students through the Excellent Education Options Program (PPPC).

1. General feasibility

  • Open to 5th year students in government primary school or government aid primary school.
  • Pupils are automatically selected by the Ministry of Education Malaysia (MOE) based on assessment data, not through individual applications.

2. Candidate selection

Eligible candidates will be shortlisted by KPM using information such as:

  • Academic performance (classroom assessment, school test).
  • School -Based Assessment (PBS) – including academic & non -academic.
  • Student background through existing data at KPM.

Only shortlisted candidates will be called in the UKPC.

3. Target student characteristics

  • Has high cognitive intelligence, critical & creative thinking.
  • Demonstrate problem solving skills and logical reasoning.
  • Potential to highlight in science, technology, engineering & mathematics (STEM).

4. Eligibility for the Academy of Sciences

  • Pass the UKPC with results that meet the minimum eligibility level set by the KPM.
  • Ready to study at full boarding schools focusing on the Excellent Education Options Program (PPPC).

UKPC Implementation Process

  • Candidates need to bring mykid identification documents and certificates of school uniforms.
  • Candidates are required to attend at least 30 minutes before the test time begins.
  • Registration is made by confirming the identity using the official document (Identity Card/MyKid/Test Call).
  • Candidates will be accompanied by the test room.

Instructions to candidates

The test coordinator is responsible for reading official instructions including:

  • Test time (system will be closed upon expiration);
  • the number of questions;
  • method of answering (through the system);
  • prohibition rules (telephone use, communications, imitation); and
  • System login using the Identity Card/MyKid number

The UKPC system will automatically save all candidates’ answers and records.

The selected candidates will receive an offer letter to accompany the PC stem exploration.
