Prayer After Tarawih Prayer, Blessings & Tasbih Between 2 Rakaat

GUIDE TO READING THE PRAYER, SELAWAT AND TASBIH OF THE TARAWIH PRAYER

The Tarawih circumcision prayer is a special act of worship that is only performed in the month of Ramadan. The priority and advantage of doing it is very great as the Prophet’s Hadith;

From Abu Zar al-Ghifari RA, that the Prophet SAW said:

Whoever stands with the imam until he leaves, it will be decreed for him to spend the whole night in prayer.

Meaning: “Whoever stands (praying tarawih) with the imam until he (the imam) departs (is finished), the reward of the person who performs Qiyam all night (like praying all night) is written for him”.

Recitation of salawat, takbir and certain tasbih when starting or between terawih prayers is not mandatory if we do not memorize them.

However, it is not wrong if we want to practice it because the purpose is to increase worship in this holy month.

It means:

All praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds, as praise that perfects His favors and suffices for His increase.

O our Lord, praise You as He deserves and then Your Essence and the greatness of Your rule. Blessings and salutations upon the Prophet Muhammad and his family and companions.

Ya Allah, our Lord, make our faith a perfect faith. We fulfill all our zakat obligations and we pray for all that is in Your presence and we hope for Your forgiveness.

We adhere to Your guidance and stay away from useless things, asceticism with this world and love for the hereafter, content with Your provisions, grateful for Your favors and patient with calamities.

We take refuge under the banner of Prophet Muhammad in the next day, we seek Your protection and can enter Your heaven and sit on a glorious bed (in heaven), marry angels and wear ornaments in heaven, eat food in Heaven, drink pure milk and honey from beautiful glasses with those whom You have favored from among the prophets, messengers, martyrs and righteous people.

Ya Allah, make us on this glorious and blessed night one of those who are happy because their deeds are accepted and do not make us sad because our deeds are rejected.

O our Lord, grant us mercy, O our Lord, forgive us, our parents, our brothers, our husbands or wives and our teachers and those we teach and those who have rights over us and those who love us and do good to us and those who guide us and whom we guide to goodness and those who bequeath to us and whom we bequeath with prayer and all Muslim men and women.

And O Allah, write salvation and forgiveness for us and upon Your servants who consist of pilgrims of Hajj and Umrah, traders, pilgrims, travelers and those who live, on land or at sea from Muslims.

And keep us away from the oppressors and help us face the infidels, O God who grants the supplicant.

And make it perfect for us, O our Lord, from You with goodness, O Most Merciful Lord of all that has mercy.

Religion Questions and Answers – Tarawih Prayers

1. What is the ruling on zikr and salawat between rakats of tarawih prayer?

– It is not obligatory to pray between the rak’ahs of tarawih prayer in the month of Ramadan.

– Whoever chooses to pray, then it is not a mistake and will even get a great reward.

– Anyone who does not pray and only performs the tarawih prayer does not commit any wrongdoing, and still receives the reward of Ramadan qiyam.
– It is also required to recite zikr, pray, glorify or read the Qur’an between the tarawih rakats.

– Giving tazkirah between the rak’ats of tarawih is also obligatory and includes a beneficial practice.

– Those who claim that it is obligatory to pray between rak’ahs of tarawih are mistaken. Similarly, those who prohibit praying or dhikr at that time, are also in error.

– If the ban is done out of ignorance, then the act of banning is illegal and sinful. Likewise, if a person establishes that praying is obligatory without knowledge, then he sins because he issues a law without valid knowledge.

– Forbidding or forbidding salawat between rak’ahs of tarawih on the grounds that the Prophet SAW did not command it shows obvious ignorance.

– If the prohibition stems from hatred towards the Prophet SAW, then it is feared that it may lead to disbelief.

– For those who pray, chant or the like, should pronounce it correctly. There are a few people who pray with the wrong pronunciation, and that act is not allowed.

Among the correct salutations are:
O God, bless our master Muhammad
May God’s blessings and peace be upon him

(Teacher Azhar Idrus)

2. Are we allowed to pray according to our own wishes and desires during tarawih prayer, or do we need to recite certain specific prayers only?

We are allowed to pray with whatever we wish and desire, as long as the prayer does not contain things that lead to immorality or contradict the Sharia.

3. Is it legal to pray without facing the Qibla?

A person is recommended to pray while facing the qibla because it is included among the manners when praying and is a practice emulated by the Salafussoleh.

However, it is not a mistake if someone prays without facing the Qiblah, because there is a narration that the Prophet SAW also used to do it in such a situation. (Al-Kafi #1478)

4. What are the correct praying manners?

Among the manners when praying is to do it with full sincerity. Prayer should begin by reciting Bismillah, followed by praise to Allah SWT and blessings on Prophet Muhammad SAW. It is also encouraged to read Surah al-Fatihah before starting the prayer.

Pray in a solemn and humble state before Allah SWT. Present a sense of servitude in yourself and glorify His greatness when asking.

It doesn’t matter whether you want to pray with a general request or a specific wish. The most important thing is that we pray earnestly and put all our hope only in Allah SWT.

5. What salawat and tasbih are recited between the rak’ats of terawih?

In Malaysia, there is a practice of reading salawat between each set of terawih (every 4 rakaat). Common recitations heard in the mosque:

O God, bless our master Muhammad and the family of our master Muhammad
Allahumma solli ‘alaa sayyidinaa Muhammad wa ‘alaa aali sayyidinaa Muhammad

Use: Recitation of blessings and tasbih between sets of terawih is a common practice in Malaysia. It is included in things that should be (mubah) and can be practiced.
