New Madani Government Cabinet 2026 – List of Names & Positions
December 16, 2025

The Madani Government’s New Cabinet 2026 is in the spotlight after Istana Negara confirmed that Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim agreed to meet with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at Istana Bukit Tunku this morning.
Although Anwar previously insisted that there are no major reshuffle plans in the near future, the MADANI Government Cabinet now has four vacant ministerial portfolios following resignations and the expiration of senatorial appointments.
The new Civilian Government Cabinet was announced with a total of 27 Ministers and Deputy Ministers appointed as well as new portfolio changes.
Why Need a Cabinet Reshuffle?
Cabinet reshuffles are usually done when the government wants to strengthen administration, improve policy effectiveness, or address current issues that require new expertise.
It is not just changing ministers, but a process of refreshing to ensure that the cabinet remains functional, relevant and able to meet the needs of the people.
1. Overcoming the Minister’s Unsatisfactory Performance
If there are ministries that fail to achieve targets, are ineffective or are often linked to administrative issues, a cabinet reshuffle gives room to replace or relocate ministers in order to improve the government’s performance.
2. Realigning Government Priorities
Sometimes, the government’s focus changes according to the current situation such as the economic crisis, the increase in the cost of living or national security. A reshuffle is needed to appoint individuals who are more suited to this new direction.
3. Strengthen Political Support
In a unity or coalition government, a cabinet reshuffle can help stabilize the support of component parties by adding more representatives to the cabinet or rearranging portfolios to make them more balanced.
4. Giving New Breath and Increasing People’s Confidence
A cabinet reshuffle is often seen as a sign that the government is sensitive to the people’s complaints. When a more authoritative figure is appointed, it can increase the people’s confidence in the government’s ability to manage the country.
5. Addressing Integrity Issues and Controversies
If there is a minister who faces scandal or constant criticism, a cabinet reshuffle allows the government to restore its image and ensure that the administration is cleaner and more transparent.
6. Ministry Structural Adjustments
Sometimes ministries need to be merged, separated or re-created to adapt to current economic and social needs. A cabinet reshuffle is needed to organize a more logical and efficient portfolio.
