Cross -border haze
Referring to the absorption of Met Malaysia, cross -border haze was found to be hit by several western coastal states of Peninsular Malaysia. Based on the analysis of the Noaa-20 satellite image on July 18, 2025, reports were issued by Asean Specialized Meteorological Centre (ASMC) It was found that there were 79 hotspots in the Sumatra area that were likely to be the cause of the habit of being brought by the southwest wind. Met Malaysia has not expected any rainfall or a change of wind direction to reduce the effects of the haze within the past few days.
The public is advised not to do any open burning activities as it can cause haze conditions and environmental pollution. The public is also advised to obtain authentic latest weather information through the official website, MyCuaca Mobil Application and the official Met Malaysia Social Media or call Hotline 1-300-22-1638 for any further questions.

Air quality and haze status report in the country

What is the haze
Haze is a phenomenon of air pollution that occurs when fine particles such as dust, smoke, and other pollutants are accumulated in the atmosphere at high concentrations that reduce vision distance and affect air quality.
It is often caused by open burning, forest fires, industrial smoke emissions, and vehicle smoke.
These fine particles, especially those less than 10 microns (PM10) or 2.5 microns (PM2.5), can enter the respiratory tract and cause various health problems such as asthma, shortness of breath, and irritation of the eyes and throat.
Haze not only affects human health, but also affects the environment, the tourism sector, air transport, and the overall economy.
In Malaysia, haze is often associated with forest burning in neighboring countries brought in by cross -border winds.
