EPF Account 3 Withdrawal Method (Flexible Account)

Many members of the Employee Provident Fund (EPF) are still confused about withdrawal of EPF Account 3 — can you go out when? Are there any conditions? How long does the money come in?
Account 3 known as Flexible Account was created to make it easier for members to withdraw money when necessary.

What is EPF Account 3?
Account 3 is known as Flexible Account.
Under the new EPF restructuring, monthly contributions are divided into:
- Retirement Account (75%) – Old age savings (Withdrawals are only allowed when the member reaches age 55 years old except in special circumstances announced by the government such as certain financial emergencies and subject to EPF approval.)
- Prosperous Account (15%) – Pre-retirement requirements (Withdrawals are allowed at age 50 yearsor for important purposes such as educationpurchase Houseas well as treatment medicineetc based on the conditions set by the EPF.)
- Flexible Account / Account 3 (10%) – Can be issued on anytime

EPF Account 3 Withdrawal: Can I Withdraw Anytime?
Many are not sure, it is true that Account 3 can be removed at any time.
Of. Account 3 withdrawals can be made at any timeas long as there is a balance in the account. However, the production amount is subject to current savings balance.
There are no special conditions such as:
- Need a specific goal
- Need to wait a certain age
- Need special supporting documents
So, how do I apply for withdrawal of Account 3?

How Much Amount Can Be Withdrawn From EPF Account 3?
- Amount minimum Account 3 withdrawal for all members is: RM50.00 per transaction.
- Amount maximumAccount 3 withdrawals are unlimited, but subject to the following procedures:
- For amounts between RM50.00 and RM3,000.00: Applications are automatically processed and subject to system verification.
- For amounts from RM3,000.01 to RM30,000.00 (citizens / permanent residents): Fingerprint verification at the EPF or SST office is required if:
- No record of previous production; OR
- Bank account information does not match EPF records; OR
- Unsuccessful e-KYC verification.
- For amounts over RM30,000.00 : Must attend the EPF or SST office for thumbprint verification.
- For non-Malaysian employees: The maximum withdrawal amount is RM3,000 per transaction.


How to Apply for the Withdrawal of a Flexible Account / EPF Account 3
EPF withdrawals can be applied for manually by filling in a form over the counter, kiosk or through the EPF i-Account.
You can also apply for a withdrawal online through the KWSP i-Account. Refer to the flexible account withdrawal application guide (Account 3) through KWSP i-Akaun below:
- Log in to the KWSP i-Akaun application. You can download this application, or visit:
- Select the ‘Withdrawal’ menu & then select ‘Withdraw your savings’.
- Select ‘Flexible Account’.
- Select ‘Remove Now’.
- Enter withdrawal amount & select ‘Continue’.
- Select or update a bank account.
- Select ‘Continue’.
- Select ‘Accept’ if agree to the Member Certificate.
- Enter the TAC number.
- Your application has been successfully sent.

STEP 1 – Login to EPF i-Account


STEP 2 – Enter the amount you want to spend


STEP 3 – Choose a bank for crediting. Make sure your account number is correct.


STEP 4 – Confirm the displayed EPF withdrawal details.


STEP 5 – Please read the terms and conditions to proceed with the transaction. The TAC number will be sent to the registered phone number. Please enter the TAC number.


STEP 6 – If your withdrawal is approved, the total payment will be credited to your bank account in time 3 working days.
