Continuous Rain Warning 14 – 18 December 2025 (MetMalaysia)

MetMalaysia’s warnings are once again in the spotlight when the department issued a continuous rain warning that is expected to hit several states in Malaysia during the period from 14 to 18 December 2025.
This warning was issued at 12:25 p.m., 14 December 2025, following an analysis of weather forecast models showing that monsoon rains are expected to occur until 18 December 2025. This situation has the potential to bring continuous heavy rain in the east of the Peninsula and west of Sarawak as well as strong winds and rough seas in the South China Sea during that period.
Accordingly,
- The Persistent (Bad) Rain Warning has been updated for the states of Kelantan, Terengganu, East Pahang and East Johor in effect until 18 December 2025.
- The Persistent Rain Warning (Waspada) has also been updated for some states of Perak, Pahang and Johor until 18 December 2025. While for the state of Sarawak it is in effect until 16 December 2025.
- The Strong Wind and Rough Sea Warning has also been updated until 18 December 2025 for the South China Sea including the waters of Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang and eastern Johor.


Warning of continuous rain in several states
SECTION A: CONTINUOUS RAIN WARNING (BAD)
Continuous heavy rain is expected to occur in the state Kelantan • Terengganu • Pahang(Kuantan, Pekan and Rompin) • Johor(Mersing and Kota Tinggi) until Thursday, December 18, 2025.
SECTION B: CONTINUOUS RAIN WARNING (CAUTION)
I) Continuous rain is expected to occur in the state Perak (Hulu Perak and Kuala Kangsar) • Pahang(Cameron Highlands, Lipis, Jerantut, Temerloh, Maran and Bera) • Johor (Segamat, Kluang, Pontian, Kulai and Johor Bahru) until Thursday, December 18, 2025.
II) Continuous rain is expected to occur in the states of Sarawak: Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, Sibu and Mukah until Tuesday, December 16, 2025.

Precautions
To ensure safety throughout this period of uncertain weather, the public is advised to take some additional measures as follows:
- Always monitor MetMalaysia’s official portal, social media, and myCuaca app.
- Be careful if you live near an area at risk of flooding or landslides.
- Prepare an emergency bag and keep important documents in a safe place.
- Avoid sea and river activities during the continuous rain warning.
- Make sure drains and water channels around the house are not blocked to avoid water overflow during heavy rain.
- Avoid passing through low-lying areas or roads that are often flooded, especially at night when visibility is lower.
- Fully charge the mobile phone and prepare a power bank, in case of a power outage.
- Store enough dry food and drinking water to last a few days in case you have to move or lose access.
- Move electrical equipment to higher ground if the area of the house is in a flood-prone zone.
- Monitor river water level movements through local early warning systems, if available in your area.
- Follow the instructions of the authorities without delay, including instructions to move to a temporary evacuation center (PPS) if the situation requires it.
- Avoid playing in the water or wading through the floodwaters, as strong currents can be dangerous and floodwaters are at risk of contamination.
